My scholarly work focuses on social welfare, health social work, health promotion, social policy, and development studies. I investigate social determinants of wellbeing, vulnerable populations, and evidence-based social interventions that inform policy and professional social work practice.

Professor James Ayanrinde Ayangunna joined the Department of Social Work, University of Ibadan, in 2005 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2017. He has served as external examiner to multiple Nigerian universities and York University Toronto, and as a consultant to UNICEF and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
